Family Sign 1 Interpretation: "History of Diamond Valley Railway" a sign detailing DVR's origins, from its move to Eltham Lower Park to its first train ride in 1961, paired with park rule icons. This sign educates families on the railway's story, giving context and meaning to their visit.

Project overview:

Brand: Diamond Valley Railway Inc.

Product: Informational signage for Diamond Valley Railway Inc.

Target Audience: Young families with children aged 3-10 years old.

Outcome: Deliver clear and engaging informational signage.

Goal: To produce informational signage for young families attending DVR.

Outcome / Opportunity: With limited signage currently available around the park, the opportunity was to design informational signs that clearly communicate the history, safety and workings of the railway to young families. Each sign was designed with bright colours, simple text and interactive elements suited to a young audience, helping DVR build stronger visitor engagement while educating families on the railway's story and safe practices around trains.

Skills used: Skills were used through hand-sketching initial concepts, followed by digital design in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to develop icons, typography, and layout. Careful consideration was given to material selection (ACM, aluminium, vinyl, and acrylic) to ensure each sign was durable and suited for permanent outdoor placement.

Family Sign 2 Wayfinding: A colourful directional post featuring an illustrated train icon, guiding families toward Tickets, Trains, Toilet, and Park. Positioned at key decision points around the park, this sign helps children and parents easily navigate to essential facilities.

Family Sign 3 Place Branding: An archway sign at the park's main entrance, featuring "Diamond Valley Railway Inc." branding that visitors walk through as they arrive. This sign creates a memorable sense of arrival and reinforces DVR's identity as families enter the park.
